Estimate tile by the box

Turn measured surface area into whole boxes using the actual package coverage.

Start with a checked area

Measure the floor or wall that will be tiled. Keep sections using different tile sizes or types separate. A property's advertised floor area is not a substitute for measuring the installation surface.

Enter coverage per box

A package usually states an area or a tile count. Use its area coverage, then calculate boxes = order area ÷ box coverage. Since you cannot normally purchase a fraction of a box, round up.

Show the allowance

An allowance accounts for cuts, breakage, pattern and possible future replacement. No one percentage suits every project. The calculator lets you enter your own; compare it with the layout and supplier guidance.
